Excavation work has been taking place throughout the site over the past two weeks. The upstream retention pond, the wetland pools and the new meandering channel course have all been formed. The two stage channel cross section is still being completed at the downstream end of the site along with the final shaping of the new course.
Work on the construction of the paths began this week. The first stage will be preparing the foundations of the bridge, with preparation of the path base taking place next week.
The first delivery of plants has also arrived on the site this week. Planting of the fringing vegetation around the pond is currently taking place, with large numbers of Common Reed (Phragmites australis) and Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus) plants being added to create a 'structural' barrier around the water's edge. Planting is expecting to be ongoing for the next three weeks.
